Export and retry renders

Export a reviewed composition from the project root. Odori freezes the render inputs, captures frames, mixes audio, and encodes the selected format.

Check the render environment

Run the environment check before a long export:

pnpm odori doctor
pnpm odori install
pnpm odori test launch

install downloads managed rendering dependencies. Run doctor again if installation was needed. See troubleshooting for browser and encoder failures.

Choose an output format

MP4 is the default. Set both format and an appropriate destination when exporting another format:

pnpm odori export launch --output out/launch.mp4
pnpm odori export launch --format webm --output out/launch.webm
pnpm odori export launch --format prores --output out/launch.mov
pnpm odori export launch --format gif --output out/launch.gif
FormatUse
mp4H.264 video with audio for general distribution
webmVP9 video with alpha support
proresProRes video for editing workflows
gifAnimated image without an audio track
pngA sequence of image frames

Alpha support in a codec does not remove an opaque background drawn by your scene. Author transparent content when you need an overlay.

Set quality and scale

Quality presets are studio, social, and web. Scale changes output resolution while preserving the composition's aspect ratio:

pnpm odori export launch --quality web --scale 0.5
pnpm odori export launch --quality studio --concurrency 2

A 1920 × 1080 composition exported at 0.5 becomes 960 × 540. Create a separate layout for portrait or square output; scaling cannot recompose a landscape design.

Reduce concurrency if simultaneous browser workers exhaust memory. The x264 --preset flag changes MP4 encoding effort, not the authored timing:

pnpm odori export launch --preset slow --output out/launch.mp4

Export audio variants

Use a declared audio variant to select a different set of cues. The name must exist in the video's metadata:

pnpm odori export launch --audio-variant narration
pnpm odori export launch --no-audio

The first command requires a variant named narration; it does not create one. See audio for cue declarations and variant setup.

Inspect and retry a job

Export jobs are recorded under .odori/builds/. List jobs to find the ID, then inspect or retry that job:

pnpm odori jobs list
pnpm odori jobs show your_job_id --json
pnpm odori jobs retry your_job_id

Replace your_job_id with an ID returned by jobs list. A retry uses the frozen manifest and does not rerun preparation. After changing source or inputs, start a new export to capture those changes.

Keep the output and job record together when diagnosing a failed render. Review the final encoded file for audio sync, clipping, and compression artifacts.
